Meeting Minutes


June 11, 2011


Call to Order
James Adkins, KB0NHX, called the regular meeting of the Nixa Amateur Radio Club to order at 1809 hours on April 9th, 2011 at the Nixa fire station on South Nicholas road in Nixa Missouri.

Sign in sheet was passed. There were 17 persons present.

Treasure report
Jeff Kerr KC0VGC read the treasurer's report as follows:

Beginning Balance: $2,892.57

Debits:

$462.48 Andrew 1/2" heliax and boots for local 6M install
$300 Club Insurance
$762.48 Total

Credits:
$18 Dues
$18.00 Total

Ending Balance: $2,148.09


VE Testing
Terry Zembsch KC0SQE reported we had two individuals test this afternoon. All passed the Technician Exam.

The question pool for the General Class exam will change the end of June.

News and Announcements
A raffle was started at the outset of the meeting for the two pieces of handmade jewelery donated by Arlen and Marci Evins. The Raffle drawing will be held at the end of the mid-meeting break. Tickets were $1 each.

Next month’s meeting will feature a presentation on grounding by John Rayfield, Sr.

The September meeting and picnic the club will be officially recognized by the ARRL as a Special Service Club. ARRL Missoui Section Manager, Dale Bagley, K0KY and Affiliated Club Coordinator, Keith Haye, WE0G will be in attendance to make the presentation to the Club.

The October meeting will feature a presentation by the KC Satellite Group.

The NARC Net preamble will be changed to state that the club is a Special Service Club.

Bill McNamee, KB0WHN, recently had surgery for a brain tumor and has moved to Springfield. He is home-bound since the surgery. It was decided by the persons present to find out what it would take to mount an antenna that would allow Bill to work the Club’s repeaters from his home in Springfield. Jeff Kerr, KC0VGC volunteered to go to Bill’s house and determine where an antenna could be mounted and how much coax would be needed.

The drawing for the raffle was held. Jeff Kerr, KC0VGC and Ron Blessin, AF7A were the winners. $24 was raised.

Technical Committee Update:
James Adkins, KB0NHX gave the following Technical Committee update:

The 900Mhz repeater has been re-worked and is ready to locate at the East TRS tower site.

The 6m receiver for the East TRS tower site is prepared and ready to install as soon as funds are available.

EchoLink is up and working well once again on the 145.270 repeater.

Open Discussion:
Kent Doucey, N0IRN led the balance of the meeting in discussion of what the club has and needs for Field Day:

Radios: Two FT-920s, one FT-950, one FT-450.
Power supplies: Power supplies are covered.
Antennas: A3S, A4S, 80m and 40m dipoles, 40m vertical, and a 6m Par Omniangle
Coax: Coax is needed and being looked into. Arlen Evins, N6DDD will bring 500ft of coax to be used as needed. Jeff Kerr, KC0VGC has 250ft of 9913 and 100ft of LMR400 to be used as needed.
It was decided to get a 1x1 special event call for Field Day.

Needed for Field Day:
U-Bolts for A4S
4” Stainless Steel worm-gear clams for antenna mounts
Headphones for all stations

Food:
We have $30 from WalMart for food
Arlen, N6DDD is providing tent shelters, tables, and chairs for the picnic
