City of Nixa ordinance requires a $100 fee for a ham tower 60' in height. He advised the HF committee would like to get membership involved and build a multi-band HF antenna. Station to be used for training and as a backup for the Nixa EOC to give Nixa HF amateur options during a disaster. The Fire Department EOC station will also consist of a VHF / UHF station. Mike Rains, K0RFI, has volunteered to assist in the running of coax when the time comes. Fred Bell inquired if anyone has experience pouring concrete for tower bases. If you would like to help dig the hole and pour the concrete or know someone that could help out, e-mail hf@nixahams.net. John Bonnot, WB0LTE, has several antennas we could use for the station.

New Business

a) Field Day 2008. Dean Gaines, KC0SQD, has obtained approval for our normal spot at Fountain Plaza in Nixa. James Adkins, KB0NHX, has obtained approval from the State of Missouri to use their DPS command bus again for 2008. More to come in following months.

b) Sucker Days Special Event Station. James Adkins, KB0NHX, advised the linking repeater project is complete, all radios have been installed. The repeaters now link through the 444.275 repeater instead of using a simplex frequency. The 53.270, 145.270, 444.275, 224.280 and 927.5375, EchoLink and IRLP can all be linked together now. The links are set to come on and turn off automatically for the Tuesday night Bible Belt Christian Fellowship net at 8:00 p.m. and for the Thursday night NARC net at 7:30 p.m. Any two or more repeaters can be linked together at will now as needed. Teacher is bringing them in two suburbans, flipping the bill for the gas. Rich would like to be able to give the teacher some money for the gas expenses. Anyone willing to donate, contact Rich by going to W0S.org and following the "contact" link.

Meeting adjourned by Chris Cochran, KB0WZC, at 1854.

Minutes submitted by: James Adkins, KB0NHX

Minutes approved by: Chris Cochran, KB0WZCJames Adkins - KB0NHXhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11365310720260878136noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1345735134607411754.post-19163547737665677372008-03-25T19:32:00.005-05:002008-03-29T23:33:01.241-05:00224.280 Repeater on the AirThe 224.280 repeater was installed high atop Cox South Hospital in South Springfield on Saturday, March 15th and finished Monday, March 17th. The repeater has met expectations and propagation map predictions to this point. 25-W mobile stations have worked the repeater as far south as Saddlebrooke on US 65, Branson West on US 160, as far north as Walnut Grove on MO 123, as far north on MO 13 as Bolivar and as far west as Halltown on I-44.

Club members worked hard to install the 224.280 repeater, and install the IRLP Link radio and the Arcom RC-210 on the 444.275 repeater to make it our UHF Linking Repeater.

Thank you to Chris Cochran, KB0WZC and his father, Jeremy Tannehill, KC0UJZ; Jim Adkins, KC0IYI; John Copelin, KC0QNM; Randy Jordan, KC0UKB; and James Adkins, KB0NHX.

The input to the 224.280 repeater is 222.80, and the PL tone is 162.2 Hz. After nearly a decade without a 220 MHz machine, the 224.280, a modified Motorola Micor base station, is slated to be installed high atop the Cox South Hospital penthouse Saturday, March 15, 2008. If weather creates a problem, the following Saturday, March 22nd, has been scheduled as an alternate install date. This repeater will also bring Springfield its first IRLP node (node # to be determined).

Special thanks to Cox South Hospital, Alltel, Rayfield Communications and the Nixa Community Foundation for donating antenna and shelter space, for donating the Motorola Micor and for funding to complete the 224.280 repeater & IRLP node. The repeater output will be 224.280 with an input of 222.680, PL of 162.2 Hz. However, the PL tone will be turned off unless needed to mitigate interference.

If you have any questions about 220 MHz mobile & portable equipment and antenna options, feel free to drop the technical committee an e-mail at technical@nixahams.netJames Adkins - KB0NHXhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11365310720260878136noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1345735134607411754.post-46278568952214962172008-02-23T12:05:00.004-06:002008-02-23T13:01:50.012-06:00N.A.R.C. He found out that our 501(c)(3) had been labeled "inactive" due to some mail that was sent to his old address and returned to the IRS. He has contacted the IRS and is in the process of getting it re-activated. This re-activation doesn't require any money, just the time and effort to fill out the forms necessary. Once this is complete, he will be able to apply for several grants. Currently, we have two grants pending, one with Allstate and one with the Nixa Community Foundation with others on the horizon. These grants would be used to pay for the remainder of the 220 MHz repeater project, the club HF station, repeater linking projects, and IRLP on the 224.280.

Jeff Kerr, KC0VGC, then took the floor and announced the new 6-meter net to be held on Monday's at 8:00 p.m. The first net will be Monday November 19th. The net will be held on the 53.270 repeater, input 51.570, PL 162.2 Hz. The net will be a roundtable of all things 6 meters and below. After the net, for those of you who just can't get enough of 6-meters, there will be a “Post Net Ragchew” on 50.125. If the band is open, it will move to 50.165. Thanks to James French, KC0TQD, and Jeff Kerr, KC0VGC, for coming up with, developing and taking the idea full circle to completion. You can check out their website at http://www.6meter.net.

We need volunteers to run the 145.270 net starting in January. We would like to have 4 net control operators so each person runs the net once a month (theoretically). Please sign the sign-up sheet when it comes by if you are interested. We'd like to at least add 2 people that haven't done the net before so they can also get experience handling traffic. The 145.270 net is held every Thursday night at 7:30 p.m.

In addition to the 2007 NARC net sign up sheet, we are also passing around an "initial interest" form stating activities we plan on doing for 2008. If any of these interest you, please sign up and either Jeff Kerr, KC0VGC, or James Adkins, KB0NHX, will be contacting you soon. We'd like to see as many different people active in this as we can. Not only is it fun, it also builds friendships and helps you get to know other club members better. So, please find something you're interested in and sign up. We don't care if you have experience or not, someone will help teach you if you ask.

Our final order of business is the election of a new club treasurer. Jeff Morrissey, KB0WVT, has served as our treasurer for the final part of the 4-year term that was held by Dave Beckler, WA0SAP, and Dean Gaines, KC0SQD.

(Jeff Kerr, KC0VGC, passed out the ballots)

Jim Adkins, KC0IYI, and Jeff Morrissey, KB0WVT, have been nominated as possible candidates.

Congratulations to Jeff Morrissey, KBØWVT for being elected as treasurer.

Meeting adjourned and Pizza enjoyed by all by Chris Cochran @ 18:55p.m.

Jeff Kerr - KCØVGChttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04602934684068161464noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1345735134607411754.post-70604872371650283292007-11-01T00:00:00.001-05:002008-01-03T14:47:59.265-06:00N.A.R.C.
