October Nixa ARC Club Meeting - THIS Saturday at 6:00 p.m.

From the Prez:

I always enjoy the last quarter of the club's annual meeting schedule each year.  We have the picnic in September, the Thanksgiving meeting at Pizza Hut in November, and our Christmas gathering with all sorts of good food in December and reflect on what we've done in the last year as a group, and what we want to do in the next year.

October, is going to be a great meeting, too!  We need everyone to show up this month.  On the business side, we need to nominate folks for President.  We will also be discussing a possible NARC hamfest in 2014 and voting whether to move forward on that after getting informed by our hamfest committee.  We'll have updates on the SMLRS repeater system, and remember that 1.5 kW FM broadcast amplifier the club bought a few years back to re-furb and put into service for the 53.270 repeater, well, that project's been moving along again, too, and we have an update on it.

After a short break, we will then tear into the club's Mosely CL-33-M tri-band HF beam that was donated to the club by Dick Higinbotham, K0GL.  We have ordered the feedpoint for the antenna, will be installing it, re-furbing all the connection points between sections, and checking the traps on the driven element to see if they need to be replaced or not.  If you've never done any maintenance on your HF beam, or if you have an interest in learning about HF beams, this is a can't afford to miss opportunity and will be a fun club project.  And, if we find we can't get it all done, we will bring it out at a future date and finish the job.

See you all Saturday night at the club meeting!  If you need directions or a map to the meeting, click on the "meeting" link to your left on the club website, or e-mail [email protected]
