The Southwest Missouri Linked Repeater System (SMLRS) received a cutting-edge upgrade Tuesday. An analog link Radio, formerly used for an off site IRLP node link, was pulled from service and a Motorola XPR4550 UHF DMR Radio installed in its place.
This radio allows operators on the DMR talkgroup Southwest Missouri (SWMO) 31291 to directly communicate with amateurs in the analog world on the Southwest Missouri Linked Repeater System. This link will be active on Thursday nights from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. to allow regional amateur operators to check into the Thursday night check-in net at 7:30 p.m. it will also be available on the Region D ARES net on Friday evenings at 7:30 p.m.
The link will be available upon request for any future events when the DMR to analog link is desired.
Currently the radio is set to the SWMO talkgroup, but in the future we will be able to remotely change the radio to the Springfield SkyWarn (31297),Branson Area (31293), BYRG (31201) or other Brandmeister talkgroup.
The link is up now for testing, so feel free to try it out. After the nets Thursday and Friday, it will only be operational on Thursday & Friday nights and as requested for bike rides, etc.
