Our next meeting will be Saturday, July 14th at 6:00 p.m. at the Nixa Fire Station at 711 N. Main. VE Testing will be held at 4:30 pm at the same location. We are still in the process of formulating the program for this meeting.
Field Day is coming up this year on June 23rd and 24th. We will be set up at Summit Intermediate School at 890 N Cheyenne Rd, Nixa, MO
Setup will start at 0700 on Saturday the 23rd. Email Shawn at ke0jgi @ nixahams.net if you have a time that you plan to come operate. It should be be great time for everyone. We will also need help with tear-down on Sunday afternoon once Field Day is over. The more hands we have, the quicker we'll get it done.
We are please to announce that the internet connected to the Branson DMR repeater is now working and the repeater can now connect to the Brandmiester Network talk groups.
We also would like to announce that SMLRS is on Broadcastify. This means you can listen to the repeater system on various smartphone apps and the web. When searching, choose Christian county since the repeater we are rebroadcasting from originates from there.

From Bob N7WY HF activities
The Space Weather Prediction Center forecasts the 10.7 cm flux will be 72-75, the A index 5-8 and the Kp index 2-3 which implies that HF propagation should be fair this weekend through next weekend; e.g., Field Day.
This is from the ARRL contest newsletter – “Your best bets for HF activity this weekend include the West Virginia QSO Party, All-Asia DX Contest, and ARRL Kids Day. If you have a 160 meter antenna, the Summer Stew Perry Topband Challenge is an opportunity to exchange grid squares on HF in a format that isn't FT8. The weekend of June 23 will be consumed by ARRL Field Day activity. If you haven't committed to a Field Day operation, you can find one near you using the ARRL Field Day Site Locator, or call around to radio clubs in your area to see about joining one.”
The 160m contest is actually called the “Stew Perry Topband Distance Challenge”. Visit https://www.kkn.net/stew/ for the rules.
If you know some you can invite, including your own, let the kids operate your HF station during ARRL Kids Day. If you don’t have any over, get on and work those who are on the air. Spread the excitement!
For more information on any of these events, go to contestcalendar.com, open the 8 day calendar, and follow the rules links to the sponsors’ websites.
The DXpedition team is about to depart for Baker Island. There are some naysayers wondering if the trip is premature given current propagation, and the reluctance of the Forest Service to grant access very often. Let’s hope they make it, and conditions are good for KH1/KH7Z from June 27 through July 6. For updates, visit http://baker2018.net/
