NARCFEST 2018

We'd like to invite you to the annual Nixa ARC NARCfest THIS Saturday, November 10th at the Bridge Church located at 308 W. Mt. Vernon Street in Nixa - about 10 minutes south of Springfield on Hwy 13. Doors open at 8:00 a.m. and the cost of admission is $7.00

Don't forget to check in with our food vendor as they are providing FREE coffee for all attendees at the hamfest and will be serving breakfast in the morning and lunch as the day goes on - perfect opportunity to grab a bite between the presentations if you like without having to leave the hamfest. BTW, DON'T forget desert - it's always really good!

This year's show has a few new events over previous years, and we are excited about the hamfest!

We have 3 speakers lined up - 9:00 a.m. Bob Heil will be giving his first ever hamfest demonstration on his new Parametric Receive Audio System. At 10:00 a.m., Chuck Kraly, K0XM, of the BYRG will be giving a new presentation on DMR (Digital Mobile Radio) communications and discuss the rapid growth in and around Missouri Then, at 11:30 a.m., Tom Wheeler, N0GSG, will be giving a presentation about the software he developed - Contact Manger: How to manipulate codeplugs to program your DMR radios.

ALSO - the scanner manufacturer Whislter will be on site to demo some of their scanners and their head technician will be on site to answer technical questions about their equipment!

We will also have VE Testing at 8:30 a.m. on site put on by Rob Huelga, W3LGA, and the Nixa ARC VE Testing Team - a great time to upgrade your license!

There are a lot of neat prizes this year - not just radios! We have items from a nice soldering station to a heat gun with heat shrink kit to gift certificates to vendors to analog mobile and portable radios and a DMR VHF HT plus others. Since the hamfest falls near Veteran's day, we wanted to have a special prize drawing for veterans in attendance - so make sure when you enter the hamfest you let us know you are a veteran so we can enter you in the prize drawing. For $20, you can also purchase the "super ticket" that gives you 20 chances to win prizes - this was really popular last year so we brought it back again for 2018.

Talk-in for the hamfest is on the SMLRS (Southwest Missouri Linked Repeater System). When you get into Springfield we suggest the 145.270-, PL 162.2 Hz due to an antenna problem with the 147.015 repeater. We will also be monitoring on DMR via the Southwest Missouri Talkgroup, 31291

We really look forward to seeing you at the hamfest. Remember - all funds from the hamfest go to support the Southwest Missouri Linked Repeater System. Your attendance will REALLY help us keep this invaluable linked system operating for all amateurs and groups to use.

Hope you can make it out to the hamfest!
